The Avaya SIP Softphone transforms Windows-based PCs into SIP-based collaboration endpoints. Users are able to make, receive and handle voice calls, send instant messages to one another and track each others' presence using an intuitive graphical user interface. SIP Softphone leverages the industry-standard nature of SIP and operates in three modes; with Avaya SIP Enablement Services as part of a complete Avaya SIP solution; with 3rd-party SIP Proxy Servers and endpoints that are IETF RFC 3261 compliant; and in peer-to-peer mode with no SIP infrastructure.
Intuitive User Interface
The SIP Softphone has a state-of-the-art user interface featuring drag and drop functionality, click to dial capabilities and directory/contact list integration.

Presence
The SIP Softphone contact list shows each user’s presence (on the phone, away). Server-based presence (available with Avaya SIP Enablement Services) results in less network traffic. In addition there is an Access Control List that can be used to block contacts.
